I
have
always loved art and my interest has been in
European 19th and mid-twentieth century
American art.
Some artists that have influenced me are
Wayne Thiebaud, Janet Fish and
Fairfield Porter.
I work from life
and paint simplified forms of everyday
objects.
I attempt
to capture the moment that inspires my
painting, the beauty of the objects, the effect of
light
and the interaction of colors. When I paint
all of life's daily activities
disappear and only the color of my paint and
my brushstrokes remain. I paint to solve the problem
of how to achieve my goal, which is to create
that sense of light and the freshness of each
day in my paintings.
