Member Meetings
Member meetings are held at the First Reformed Church of Scotia which is located at 224 N. Ballston Ave (Route 50) in Scotia. Meetings occur at 12:30 PM on the 2nd Thursday of the month, six times a year (Sept, Oct, Nov, and Mar, Apr, May).
Demonstrations
A demonstration follows each brief member meeting. While each demonstration is in a specific medium, over time many mediums are explained such as watercolor, oil, gouache, pastel, acrylic, charcoal, fabric, etc. Also over time, many styles are demonstrated such as realistic, abstract, impressionist, etc.
Shows and Events
The society sponsors at least two member shows a year at various locations, such as at libraries, restaurants, museums, and galleries. In addition we have a revolving two month show at the Turf Tavern, 40 Mohawk St, Scotia, NY throughout the year.
Often during the summer months we have a Plein Air event at various locations in the area.
Workshops
In collaboration with the Town of Niskayuna, we sponsor several workshops throughout the year. These are held on specific Saturdays at the Niskayuna Senior Center. Workshops have a small fee which varies by workshop.
Notifications
Members are notified of activities through a member newsletter, emails, and at meetings. We also have a Facebook page (For link go to the SAS Links page.) where members can post their art activities in addition to submitting to the newsletter or announcing at meeting.
